  Vicenza’s furniture, champions of styling

“Made in Vicenza” furniture are in demand in Italy and highly appraised abroad, sought after, and purchased by those who wish to furnish their home with good taste and the inimitable Italian style. Kitchens, wardrobes, living room sets, chairs, contractual supplies – there is no segment of the great wood furnishing chain of production that does not find expression in this Province, which is the productive heart of a region, the Veneto, which represents alone some 30 percent of the entire national production of furniture. The strong point of the sector is its dynamic nature, which is guaranteed by several large industrial groups who occupy positions of leadership and a myriad of small and medium sized enterprises, which operate in particular market niches. But then here in the Province of Vicenza, the passion for furniture was born long ago. In Bassano del Grappa, north of the Province capital, one of the most important productive districts of furniture in the Veneto is located: this historical artistic furniture district of Bassano, which has contributed in spreading the charm of classical Italian furniture throughout the world.

Attention to quality and style distinguishes the 1,997 furniture industries in the Vicenza’s area employing over 10 thousand persons. More than 20 percent of these companies work in the Bassano artistic furniture segment of the sector. Another 500 companies’ core business is period furnishings, and this segment employs some 5 thousand persons. The wealth produced by the wood furnishing sector in the Province can be measured by the turnover: 1,992 million euro, with exports of 370 million euro.
